I work with young people (age 12 to 18) and need some ideas of things to do during the summer holidays. The kids have lots of big ideas such as going to theme parks but does anyone have any ideas that are a bit cheaper/free? I am especially looking for ideas of things we can do on the unit where I work.

I have had a look on the internet for summer holidays ideas but they are mostly for younger kids.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Surfings pretty cheap i think. I went with a group and they onli charged us £5 each, which included the bus, and hiring wet suit and board. but obv thats no good if u dont live near the sea!

This is some stuff i suggested for our youth workers 2 do, but i'm not allowed 2 go now coz im 18!

dvds wi popcorn n pizza n stuff, barbeque, cinema, sports day type thing, swimming, cinema, art n creative stuff. i cant think of ne thing else!

The theme park trip could work, try get a discount on the tix wi more ppl goin and split the costs. And look round 4 the best deals on buses or wateva.

Hope this helps!

Try to do some garage sales. Or maybe travel or hike. Depends on your mood. Try to do some charitable work. There’s a lot summer activities that could be fun and helpful.

Modern summer holiday hassle can be mitigated by choosing, first, a less crowded holiday destination; and second, by considering different ways to travel - by high speed train; hiring a car; or shopping around for deals on the main scheduled airlines, and at less popular times of day.
